Our Legacy: Lifting the Banner of Christ in Service
The legacy as Christians is how we reflect Christ by lifting His banner…

I. Introduction: The Banner on the Battlefield

• Illustration: In war, a banner represents identity, direction, and courage.
• Psalm 60:4 – God gives us a banner to display because of truth.
• We lift Christ’s banner through how we live and serve.

II. We Are Called to Lift the Banner of Christ

A. Christ Is Our Identity
• Isaiah 11:10 – Jesus is the Root of Jesse.
• Our lives point to Christ—His truth, grace, and victory.
B. Our Testimony Is the Banner We Carry
• Matthew 5:16 – Let your light shine through good works.
• 2 Cor. 3:2–3 – We are living letters, read by all.
→ Challenge: Are you boldly lifting the banner or hiding it?

III. Serving Others: The Heart of Our Legacy

A. Jesus Modeled a Life of Service
• John 13:14–15 – Wash one another’s feet.
• Mark 10:45 – He came to serve, not to be served.
B. We Serve Because He Served Us
• Galatians 5:13 – Serve one another through love.
C. Legacy Is Built One Act at a Time
• 1 Corinthians 15:58 – Your labor is not in vain.
• Matthew 25:40 – You served Me when you served them.

IV. What Kind of Legacy Are You Leaving?

A. A Legacy of Faithfulness
• 2 Timothy 4:7 – Fought the good fight, finished the race.
B. A Generational Legacy
• Psalm 78:4 – Tell the next generation of His deeds.
• Deuteronomy 6:6–7 – Teach your children diligently.
C. A Christ-Glorifying Legacy
• Philippians 1:20 – Christ magnified in life and death.
V. How to Lift the Banner Daily
1.
Share the gospel boldly – Romans 1:16
2. Serve when unseen – Matthew 6:4
3.
Love sacrificially – John 13:35
4. Endure trials faithfully – James 1:12
5.
Be interruptible for others – Luke 10:33–35

VI. Legacy Examples in Scripture

• Abraham – Faith (Gen. 12, Heb. 11)
• Moses – Leadership & intercession (Ex. 32)
• Ruth – Loyalty & redemption (Ruth 1)
• Paul – Gospel mission (2 Tim. 4)
• Jesus – Ultimate servant (Phil. 2:5–11)
→ Proverbs 13:22 – A good man leaves an inheritance…

Conclusion: Your Banner, Your Legacy

Reflection Questions:
• What will people remember about me?
• Am I pointing others to Christ?
• Am I lifting the banner in my home, job, and church?
Hebrews 12:1–2 – Run with endurance, looking to Jesus.
Lift Christ’s banner high. Serve with joy. Leave a legacy of faith.
